East Windows of the Church

All of the windows for the church were purchased from Emil Frei Co. in St. Louis. Those who donated windows gave $1,000 each.

East Window #1 The First Window on the east side depicts St. Margaret Mary. She suffered many trials for the sake of Jesus. She was one of the chief instruments in spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart. The window was donated by Fr. Wirtz's parents.

East Window #2 The Second Window on the east side portrays the Agony in the Garden. After the last supper Jesus took Peter, James and John with him to pray. They fell asleep and Jesus asked them about their loyalty. Donated by the Hubert Hackenmiller family.

East Window #3 The Third Window on the east side is the Holy family with focus on the Holy Child. It shows the love and unity of Jesus and His parents. The window was donated by the John Hemann family.

East Window #4 The Fourth Window on the east side pictures St. Stanislaus. Stanislaus was born in 1550 of noble Polish parents. At fourteen when he became very ill, he appealed to his patroness, St. Barbara. She appeared to him with two angels, who gave him the Sacred Host. He entered the Society of Jesus with the intentions of becoming a priest. Stanislaus died on the feast of the Assumption in 1568 at the age of seventeen. Fittingly this window was donated by the young people of the parish.

East Window #5 The Fifth Window on the east side portrays the death of St. Joseph with Mary and Jesus at his bedside. Donated by the Sacred Heart Men's Society.

East Window #6 The Sixth Window on the east side shows Jesus giving St. Peter the keys to the gates of heaven. Donated by the Peter T. Hemann family.
